How I Work?
Ryan is the MEP BIM Lead for Zutari in Dubai, UAE. They are engineering consultants and trusted advisors, they co-creates impact that enables people, economies and environments to thrive. Ryan's role is to undertake and lead BIM duties on all projects for the MEP department. This role involves setting up project models, templates development, supporting users and novice learners, undertake in-house BIM related training, and support engineers in BIM design.
He started his professional career in 1995 as a pilot/proto-type product and tooling design draftsman working for an international electronic manufacturing firm based out of Arizona, USA. Gaining experience in the design of jigs and fixtures, use of precision tools and gauges providing accurate design drawings. He has also received trainings in the US and Singapore in 2001 for Pro/Engineer, a parametric, integrated 3D/CAD/CAM solution developed by the same key developers of Revit Technology.
In 2002, he shifted from manufacturing to construction and quickly gaining experience in the new field. He has now an extensive knowledge and experience in HVAC Systems, and with sound knowledge of engineering calculation utilizing international building standards and codes such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, SMACNA, NFPA and ICC's. With past experience as a multi-discipline drafter with leading international contractors and engineering consultancy firms.
Before moving to Dubai for the second time in 2013, Ryan built up over 18 years experience in MEP documentation and detailing in the Philippines, Diego Garcia, Qatar, Bahrain, Dubai and Abu Dhabi using various versions of AutoCAD and other widely-used CAD tools. His project experience includes a variety of building types - commercial (high rise and mixed use development), shopping centers, convention and exhibition centers, industrial, residential, educational, hospital and clinics, sport facilities, airports (terminals, lounges, baggage handling systems, and other facilities), theme parks, religious and cultural buildings, government and military facilities. Ryan have been to Mumbai, India, in 2016 for a project BIM coordination workshop meeting and also assigned to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, in 2018, assisting the local office BIM team deliver the firm's top priority project in the Middle East that time, the Lusail Stadium - home to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final game.
He has good knowledge and understanding in many of the BIM standards and protocols such as BS 1192:2007, PAS 1192-2:2013, CIC BIM Protocol, AEC UK BIM Protocol, AIA BIM Standards/Protocol, PennState BIM Execution Planning Guide, and Autodesk's BIM Execution Planning Guide. He is an Autodesk Revit Architectural Certified Professional, AutoCAD Certified Professional and Associate, and recently passed the Autodesk Revit MEP 2015 Certified Professional Examination - a first from the Phillipines based on Autodesk's Online record, https://autodesk.starttest.com/. A professional member of Autodesk User Group International (AUGI - member # 245926) and also a contributor to many BIM/CAD user support groups and industry focus groups such as AUGI (username: BIMbeliever) and Autodesk Community (username: CADTripper) forums. He has completed and delivered more than 30 projects to date utilizing Revit MEP / BIM (LOD 100-500) and recently involved in numerous BIM projects in The Middle East. Has successfully trained more than 50 BIM modelers, engineers, draughtsmans and technicians into Revit, AutoCAD and Pro/Engineer. One of the Revit MEP pioneers in UAE and since 2008 he has used BIM for design, documentation and coordination.
